TIPS FOR OPTIMISING YOUR PMP SOLAR CHARGER

  • Ensure that you are employing 6mm Panelflex wiring as a minimum
  • Ensure that all your connections are solid
  • Ensure that you go from panel to solar regulator – DO NOT GO DIRECTLY FROM PANEL TO BATTERY!! (Voltages can exceed 16v, and will thus ‘cook’ your battery in time).
  • Ensure that the solar regulator is within 2M of the batteries - as it needs accurate voltage readings which will become distorted over longer distances.
  • Keep the panel clean, as dirt or droppings from our feathered friends can greatly reduce panel performance
  • Ensure that your panel is oriented correctly (refer panel chart)
  • Ensure that your panel is angled correctly (refer panel chart)
  • You will get some losses over the longer distances
  • Ensure that your panel fits snugly on your vehicle so that it can’t bounce around
  • Always sit the panel on rubber matting, or old carpeting, as this will also be kinder to the panel when travelling over rough roads
